That was the name of the first blog that I started 10 years ago.
“You should start a blog,” my friend Julie said. She was/is “a big deal” in the shooting sports world and was the person who encouraged me to write about my journey as a novice competitive pistol shooter. I never thought anyone would want to read what I had to say, but I was wrong.
Over the years, the blog names changed, one become a dot come, and I had contributing writers who shared their tips and tricks for succeeding on the range. Was I a celebrity? Depends on who you ask and in what circles (hair toss). Ha!
For me, writing is an outlet to share what I knew and talk about the people I met. Maybe someone else could learn something from a mistake I made or an experience I had. Who knows.
Writing is in my family tree. I think we even have a published poet or two. It comes naturally to me, even if some ramblings are better than others ( i.e. my 3rd grade diary where you can barely read my handwriting – yes, I still have this!).
Can you learn something from me? Maybe. Sometimes I don’t even publish what I write. Why? Well, for starters, it is sometimes just an outlet for dealing with ridiculous people, and second, it might be a little too personal to share with the World. Writing things out can be therapeutic, even if you don’t share it with anyone.
I share what I share because I’ve lived a very interesting life. If you’ve followed me from the beginning, you know what I’ve been through.
I’ve cried a lot of tears – both happy and sad.
I’ve hurt people, but never on purpose. I’m not that kind of person.
I’ve made some really stupid choices, but I’ve also made some really good ones.
I’ve kept some bad company over the last 10 years, but I’ve also kept some good company.
So here’s to the next 10 years! Here’s to the company we keep. Here’s to the relationships we’re growing and the love we’re sharing.
Cheers,
Aunt Bubba
