Using the Talents God Gave You

I came across a quote recently that made me pause and reflect about life:

“The highest and best use of the talents God gave you is to glorify Him with them.”

It made me pause — not in a heavy, guilt-filled way, but in a way that stirred something deep.

We talk a lot about finding our “purpose” or “passion,” but I think sometimes we forget why those gifts were placed in us in the first place. The point isn’t just to be good at something — it’s to do good with it. To make something brighter, softer, or more beautiful because we were willing to show up with what God gave us.

For a long time, I thought my talents had to look impressive — like something big enough for the world to notice. But I’m learning that the best use of my gifts often happens in the quiet spaces: writing words that help someone feel seen, lending time or encouragement when it’s needed most, or even just doing ordinary things with a grateful heart.

The truth is, God doesn’t waste anything. The way you listen. The way you notice details. The way you organize chaos, or bring humor to heavy moments. Those aren’t random quirks — they’re fingerprints of His intention in your life.

When we use those gifts for His glory — not just our own satisfaction — something sacred happens. Life feels less about striving and more about serving. Less about proving and more about purpose.

Recently, I took a spiritual gifts test, and one of my results was hospitality. At first, I smiled and thought, “Well, that fits.” But the more I sat with it, the more I realized how deeply that gift connects to this quote.

Hospitality isn’t just about hosting or making things look nice — it’s about creating space for people to feel safe, seen, and loved. It’s using warmth, kindness, and presence to make room for God’s love to flow through you. And maybe that’s the truest form of using our gifts for His glory — turning everyday moments into invitations for connection and grace.

So maybe the question isn’t “Am I talented enough?”
Maybe it’s “Am I using what I already have in the highest and best way?”

Because when we do — when we give those talents back to the One who gave them — that’s where the real joy begins.

And that’s really what Bubba & Co. is all about — learning to see God’s hand in the ordinary, to find gratitude in the small things, and to use what we’ve been given to love a little deeper and live a little fuller.

Love. Give. Live.

P.S. The quote is from Charlie Kirk. May he rest in peace.
