When Rushing Leads to Regret

Life has a way of teaching us that sometimes our path simply cannot be rushed.

Relationships, commitments, and especially life-altering decisions need time, honesty, and discernment. When we move too quickly—guided by emotion, fear of being alone, or the excitement of a new beginning—we risk stepping outside of God’s timing.

Scripture reminds us of the beauty in waiting:
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31

Waiting is not wasted time.

Waiting is preparation.

It allows God to reveal truth, align our hearts with His will, and protect us from walking into situations that could harm us.

When people rush into things without pausing to heal, pray, or seek wise counsel, they are building a foundation on sand, not a rock. Quick decisions may bring immediate satisfaction, but they often carry long-term consequences.

I myself am in a season of waiting. This season is a gentle reminder of what God’s protection really feels like. What seems like “waiting” is actually Him preparing something far greater than we could imagine.

So whether you’re single, dating, or facing a major choice, remember to do these things:

1. Pause.
2. Pray.
3. Seek wisdom.
4. Surround yourself with truth.
5. Trust that God’s timing is not only better, but perfect.

Because when we wait on Him, we don’t just avoid regret—we step into peace.

Love. Give. Live.
